Our Mission
The primary purpose of Nā Kai `Ewalu is educational. Nā Kai `Ewalu is committed to supporting our youth and all members so they may reach their highest potential through physical training and cultural awareness.
Nā Kai `Ewalu shall conduct mentoring programs to revive, develop and perpetuate the Hawaiian culture and traditions through promoting academic achievement, accomplishment through canoeing competitions, education of cultural practices, and self-esteem programs in a drug free, non-violent environment.
Nā Kai `Ewalu shall through these programs instill in our youth and all members well-being, personal achievement and self-respect.
About Us
We participate in the MCHCA regatta season posting crews in divisions ranging from 8 years old to 60+ years old with all experience levels. The regatta season runs from June to August. We also participate in the long-distance season on Maui and neighbor islands. Races range from 5 miles to 42 miles in distance. Distance season runs from August to October.
We host Kamehameha School and Baldwin High School during the Maui Interscholastic League season.
Nā Kai `Ewalu invites all to come and join us. Nā Kai `Ewalu is located at Kahului Harbor in Ho`aloha Park, Maui. Look for the purple and white canoes!
