Ha‘a Nā Kai ‘Ewalu

By Kumu Keli’i Tau’a

Ha‘a Nā Kai ‘Ewalu was especially composed for the club by Kumu Keli‘i Tau‘a. It includes the name of the eight channels between the Hawaiian Islands and the channel leading to Tahiti. We are very proud of our ha‘a. Imua Nā Kai ‘Ewalu!

E Hō Mai

By Edith Kanakaole

E hō mai (i) ka ʻike mai luna mai ē
ʻO nā mea huna noʻeau o nā mele ē
E hō mai, e hō mai, e hō mai ē (a)

Give forth knowledge from above
Every little bit of wisdom contained in song
Give forth, give forth, oh give forth

Serving Our Members and the Community

Nā Kai ‘Ewalu continuously serves its members and the community. We have hosted the students at Summer Pals and Kama‘aina Kids. Narcotics Anonymous used our hale for daily meetings and several hula halau made our hale their home too. Nā Kai ‘Ewalu is the official host of Kamehameha Schools Maui and Baldwin High School’s MIL paddling teams.

Nā Kai ‘Ewalu is also part of the Adopt a Highway Campaign. We care for a two mile stretch of Hana Hwy which includes the intersection of Haleakala Hwy.

We have been involved in replanting koa and a‘ali‘i seedlings in Kahikinui and Ulupalakua. Our club has also done many Thanksgiving and Christmas Meals for the homeless.
