DESCRIPTION:We have the privilege of hosting this weekends regatta. Our regatta is named after two men that were instrumental in the foundation and growth of Na Kai Ewalu\, John Wilmington III & William “Boogie” Wainui Regatta.\n\n\nJohn Wilmington III – Papa John is one of our founder’s and is the longest serving Treasurer at 20 years. He also served the greater canoeing community by helping write the first race rules for Maui’s Canoe Association and was a long time official in Maui and the State Races.\nWilliam Wainui Jr – Uncle Boogie was our Head Coach for 20 years\, took a break then served for another ~10 years. He also helped write the first race rules for our association.

Founded in 1972\, our club was named after the eight ocean channels surrounding the seven main islands in the Hawaiian chain. We are committed to supporting our youth and all members so they may reach their highest potential through physical training and cultural awareness. We strive to perpetuate Hawaiian culture and traditions through instruction and training to our members and the community. As one of Maui’s oldest clubs\, we invite you to join us in our mission to repair our racing canoes in preparation for the 2022 racing season.
