Kaupo, Maui April 29, 2017

Back in April, some of our older kids had the opportunity to kokua at Lo`alo`a Heiau in Kaupo. Maui ali’i nui Kekaulike built Lo`alo`a as a war heiau (mamala koa). Lo`alo`a is a massive platform with sixteen small rock cairns.

Our group helped remove and clear out invasive plants, cane grass, and weeds. They toured the heiau and learned the significance of each terrace, the use and how the heiau was used to track the solstice.
