This beautiful koa canoe was built by one of NKE’s Founder, Mike Adams. The literal meaning of this canoe is “the path reserved for seafarers”. Uncle Mike derived this name using parts of his four children’s names. Keala comes from his daughter Kealaaumoi. Kapu is from his daughter Kapuhealani. Holo is from Aholo which is his and his son’s name. This is a family name from Lahaina. Kai is his son Kaiponohea. Uncle Mike has graciously lent the Kealakapu to NKE as he believes the canoe needs to be in the ocean.
